Garrison Lahore

Senior School

The Curriculum

Garrison School System believes in retaining the best traditional approaches and values in the education of our pupils, in order for them to become well rounded individuals. Our broad based curriculum places a high priority on numeracy and literacy. Every child is given a chance to shine within small teaching groups. There is no streaming or setting in the early years as we feel that all our pupils should have identical opportunities, specialization is left as late as possible so that career decisions are not made at too early a stage.

Homework

Garrison School System believes strongly in the value of homework which is set according to the needs and abilities of each child. The amount of homework increases as each child progresses through the school and we work closely with parents via a homework diary that is signed regularly.

Reporting and Parental Contact

Pupils’ work is scrutinized on a daily basis. Full reports are sent to parents at the end of each term and report cards are after the monthly tests. Quality work and effort is rewarded at all ages throughout the school via merit, certificates and prizes. The GSS ensures that every child is working to their maximum potential and also highlights any pupil whose work is giving cause for concern.Regular open days are held that give opportunity to the parents to question each teacher privately. Parents are free to contact the Principal or individual teachers at any time. The School can make special arrangements to meet the parents or guardians of boarders at any time.

Computing

The school has excellent facilities to allow pupils to develop their IT skills to the limit. The School has invested heavily in computers, networking and Internet access. Garrison School System has its own website (www.garrison.edu.pk) which encourages pupils to publish their own work on the Internet and communicate and collaborate with other progressive schools around the world.

English Speaking

Even if you think your child has very little English ability you may be surprised to discover he or she has hidden talents. Special classes are arranged in the form of remedial classes. The learning and teaching of English language is an integral part of any curriculum. Realizing this, our faculty teaches all the four skills i.e. listening, reading and writing with special emphasis on speaking as well as writing. We also have a state of the art language lab and audio visual room for this purpose.

Art and CDT

Art and design have a special place in the School curriculum. We a have fully equipped specialist design studio which provide the full range of activities including design, printing, screen printing and pottery to name but a few.

Junior School

In Junior School the emphasis is on continuing to provide a firm foundation in reading, writing of Language Art and mathematics. We set high standards for our students and give them every encouragement to work to the best of their ability thereby realising their full potential.Education at Garrison School System focuses on the “whole person”. The School encourages children to develop not only as members of the School, but also of the local, regional and global communities. Visiting speakers, drama groups, educational theatre, presentations and concerts extend and broaden each child’s curricular knowledge.

Examination Procedure:

KG to 8th:

The whole academic year is divided in three terms; 1- First Term. 2- Second Term. 3- Final Term. 9th & 10th: 1- First Term 2- Second Term 11th & 12th:Each term is followed by a formal term exam. A consolidated result is compiled and announce at the end of the year. There is one monthly test in addition to the term exams. This is to ensure that children keep on studying throughout the period instead of starting their preparation at the end of the term. Solved papers are handed over to the students with their result cards after every monthly test or the term exams, instead of waiting for the end of the year as the prevailing practice which we have changed now. So the students may find time to fulfill the required deficiencies and feel the urgency for an early action which is most required.
